Abstrak

Anemia is a major nutritional issue among adolescent girls, affecting physical health, cognitive performance, and productivity. The high prevalence in Indonesia highlights the need for school-based educational strategies. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of health education on anemia in improving knowledge among female students of SMK Mutiara Bangsa Kemiri. A pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test model was applied. Fifty-nine tenth-grade students were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using a 35-item multiple-choice questionnaire and analyzed with the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test due to non-normal distribution. The mean pre-test score was 28.39 (SD=7.278), which increased to 30.85 (SD=5.426) after the intervention. The Wilcoxon test revealed a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores (p=0.026).

Conclusion: Health education significantly improved students’ knowledge about anemia. School-based interventions are recommended as a preventive measure for anemia among adolescent girls.
