MY CHARACTERS AND SETTING IN THE SHORT STORY LAKI-LAKI TUA TANPA NAMA BY BUDI DARMA

Abstract

This paper is a study of Budi Darma's short story entitled Lelaki Tua Tanpa Nama. The study in this paper is focused on aspects of characterization and setting. Both of these aspects at the semiotic level are also called semantic aspects. Based on the research results, it is known that the character saya is a character that represents three characters, namely: curious, caring, and affectionate. In the background aspect, it is known that this short story contains the complete background aspects, namely: public space, domestic space, time setting, geography, and calendar. The space that dominates in the setting is the public space. This indicates that public space is a space that must be filled with three characters represented by the character saya, namely: curiosity, caring, and affection. Public spaces will become humane with the presence of these three characters
